How to Wake a Sleepy Baby to feed

Newborn babies should breastfeed 8-12 times in 24 hours. Each baby will develop their on style of breastfeeding technique and patter. In the first couple of days you may need to wake your baby up to feed every 3-4 hours. When newborns get very hungry they can become very sleepy and you need to make sure they are getting enough feedings.

Tips to wake a sleeping baby.

  • Change the baby’s diaper
  • Talk to the baby
  • Massage the chest or back
  • Rub or tickle the babys feet
  • Sit the baby upright
  • Unwrap the baby
